Headliners – Margate Jazz Festival 2016

Margate Jazz Festival 2016 – HEADLINERS

OLI ROCKBERGER and the WILL BUTTERWORTH QUARTET are just two of the MARGATE JAZZ FESTIVAL’s headliners that represent the cross-over flavour of this year’s September event.

Singer-songwriter, producer and keys man Oli Rockberger is back from New York and currently working with award-winning Laura Mvula’s touring band. He brings with him top jazz players… more info very soon!

Also headlining, home legend Paul Booth will be presenting his eclectic ensemble the Patchwork Project and featuring the ever-popular Jacqui Dankworth.

About the 2016 festival

The 2016 Margate Jazz Festival is to be held across a number of venues in Margate during the weekend of the 23rd, 24th and 25th of September. It will be the 11th staging of the event.

Founded by David Mossman, who also cofounded the famous Vortex jazz club in London’s Dalston, previous Margate Jazz Festivals have featured great names from the contemporary jazz scene both here and abroad including Christine Tobin, Courtney Pine, Evan Parker, John Etheridge, Emilia Martensson, Carol Grimes, Ian Shaw, Juan Perez Rodriguez, Michael J McEvoy, Monica Vasconcelos, Annie Whitehead, Jim Mullen, Paul Booth, Phil Robson, Henry Lowther and Steve Waterman to mention just a few.

At this year’s Parliamentary Jazz Awards, 2015 Margate Jazz Festival headliner Emilia Martensson was awarded Jazz Vocalist of the Year and 2014 headliner Evan Parker received a special award for his contribution to jazz.

We promise this year’s festival will offer another great line-up. We have already announced some acts, and will be adding more.  Tickets are now on sale.
